Our Practice Standards

Evidence-Based, Ethical and Child-Centred

At Childfirst Australia, we understand that assessments and contact services directly influence a child’s safety and long-term wellbeing. Our work is guided by professional ethics, statutory requirements, and trauma-informed practice.

Our assessments are thorough, objective, and evidence-based, incorporating detailed interviews, home environment reviews, record analysis, and professional consultation. Every report is prepared to meet agency and court standards, ensuring recommendations are clear, defensible, and centred on the child’s best interests.

Our Supervised Contact services are delivered by professionals trained in child development and trauma awareness, with a focus on reducing emotional distress while maintaining meaningful connections wherever it is safe to do so.

Professional Expertise

Experience That Informs Safe Decision-Making

Child First Australia provides highly experienced and qualified supervisors for court-ordered or mutually agreed supervised time. This includes arrangements under Family Court Orders, Children’s Court Orders, Parenting Orders, or any other agreement reached between parents.

Child First Australia provides highly experienced and qualified supervisors for court-ordered or mutually agreed supervised time. This includes arrangements under Family Court Orders, Children’s Court Orders, Parenting Orders, or any other agreement reached between parents.

As an outreach-based service, all supervised time occurs within the community or in a parent’s home when this is assessed to be in the child’s best interests. Decisions regarding location are made by the Director of Child First Australia in consultation with the residential parent, and always in alignment with relevant court orders and current legislation. We maintain minimal waiting periods, and all supervisors hold a valid Working with Children Check along with relevant industry qualifications and experience.

Child First Australia provides closely monitored supervised time, with detailed observational notes completed after every visit. These records are compulsory and form part of our professional service, with payment required for each session without exception. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of children at all times.
